VinItaly 50 - Day 2, Moving Day
Day 2 at VinItaly I call "Moving Day"..... that is, if you don't get moving today you will start to find that you are running out of time to get things done. So I had a plan to check out some new producers.
As in all business, it is not what you know but who you know that counts. My client Dario Milano from Restaurant Milano Torino in Sydney recommended me to Cascina Chicco, a quality producer in the Alba area of Piemonte. Their wines were ridiculously good and I hope to be able to bring them to Australia.
Enrico Piantato from Guasti Clemente introduced me to Monica Tibaldi who is half of the Tibaldi Sorelle (Sisters) who have recently started up their own business, Cantina Tibaldi (see the photo of Monica and sister Daniela attached). These young women are both well under 30 and brimming with energy and ideas. Their family have been grape growers for 2 generations, but this is the first move into commercial production. Their early wines show real promise and I have a feeling that these girls are going to be stars.
And finally, good friend Dan Eggleton introduced me to a Prosecco producer through a mate of his (of course). About 30 minutes ago I shook hands on bringing this most exciting Prosecco brand in Italy to Australia. Again run by people under 30, the quality in both wine product and packing is exceptional. I cannot wait to get this brand into Australia.
So "Moving Day" was a sensational win for me today. But more important than that, it is going to be a huge win for my clients.
Bring on Day Three....the search for PG!
