Vinitaly creates a massive case of FOMO for me. Wandering through 11 massive halls housing 5,000 wine companies, with their beautiful stands, amazing marketing, and labelling, I can’t help the feeling that I am missing the “next big thing.”

I stopped and had a good chat with myself and remembered that I have a group of amazing producers- great people, great wines- in all of the key regions. I am a small importer and bringing on new producers lessens the time I can devote to my loyal band. So I was content in that knowledge and will work out ways to keep things fresh in Frantic Fridays etc, with random cool wines that come to my attention in Australia.

So this year, Vinitaly was exclusively a place where I caught up with old friends, tried new vintages and strategised about the best individual wines to bring to Australia from my fantastic Italian producers. This was a big enough challenge for me!
