Winemaker and partner, Daniel Eggleton, is a crafty individual. He is terrific at bartering some winemaking into a bonanza of quality fruit for Ben Murray Wines. The vineyard that produces fruit for our shiraz has been a designated "Grange Vineyard" for many years. The owner sold all of the grapes to Penfolds but never had a bottle of wine solely made from the fruit of his own vineyard. Dan was a good friend of the vineyard manager and made a suggestion that he would make a single vineyard wine for the owner in exchange for us being able to keep some of the wine. Genius, huh!
Subsequent to this arrangement the owner passed away and left the vineyard (valued at several million dollars) to the vineyard manager. Wonderful gesture and one that ensures you will get to see this wonderful vineyard expressed in the bottle by Dan Eggleton every year. (Ridiculously limited quantities).

"Hand-picked, crushed, 25 days on skins, the cap worked throughout, matured in new and used French and American barriques for 18 months. Penetrating and rich, black fruits, bramble and black pepper. This is a wine that will be around for some time. 95/100”
