Torcilacqua - Our First Italian Merlot

Introduced to me by good friend Francesco Mazzi acclaimed winemaker at La Massa in Panzano. The winery is owned by the Florence engineering family, the Mariotti's . The vineyard is in the stupendous valley adjacent to Panzano known as Badia a Passignano. This valley is dominated by the world famous Antinori group who source the fruit for their finest wines here.

2019 "Torcilacqua"

This is from the first commercial vintage since Matteo Mariotti took over and made by Francesco Mazzi. The Torcilacqua is a blend of Merlot (75%)  and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) from the best fruit on this amazing property.
